One of the
recent additions is the coffee facts articles section
which I put together from much of the information I
located online. The main page covers the nuts and bolts,
the basics then I wrote my articles to expand into the
other areas of coffee connoisseurship and to give my
visitors more to read and learn and I had fun writing them
too so it was also interesting for me to put them
together. |

How did you get
involved in your particular "niche" for your chosen online
business. |

I remember
liking the smell of coffee even as a kid. I always thought
of it as an adults hot cocoa and eventually I asked for
some and they let me. It was warm, sweet and creamy, I was
hooked no doubt. I drank coffee throughout my life without
thinking about it too much until I decided that besides
the standard veggies in my garden why not grow coffee? I
located a place online to buy the seeds and even the
plants and gave it a shot but found out that the average
plant does not produce enough coffee berries so I
eventually abandoned my coffee plantation project when I
lost my plants to a winter freeze. I never stopped being
interested in it though and that's what gave birth to my
website, a love for the bean and the need to write about
it in all it's glory. |

What is your
favorite part or what do you like best about running your
own online business? |
|
 |
|
I'm sure it's
more ego related knowing I'm at the top of the search
engines when it comes to locating information about coffee. I
originally created it as a fun thing for me to do and it
was for me, then it expanded into sharing what I put together for all to
see. I know there are guys like me searching for the
coffee basics and I'm providing it to them in a format I like,
right to the point. |

What is your
biggest challenge as a webmaster & site owner and how do
you overcome it? |
|
 |
|
It was hard
deciding what coffee information to include and exclude
without going outside the original plan for my site which
was simplicity. There is so much information online about
coffee that trying to decide what to add to the site and
what to ignore was the most difficult. I wanted to put it
all in there but I had to balance that with the kind of
website I would have wanted to visit. |
|
|
|
|
|
If you had to
do it all over again, what is the one thing you would
change if you could? |
|
 |
|
I had a great
time putting my website together and
it serves it's purpose as a mini information site so I'm
happy and not so sure I would change anything. |

What would you
tell a person reading this about starting their own online business? |
|
 |
|
I know if this
interview makes it onto your site people are going to
expect me to talk about money, however I can tell you that
wasn't the purpose of my website. I wanted a small, get to
the point site about the things I wanted to know about
and like which is coffee. I earn enough from coffee facts
to pay for my domain registration and hosting then have
some left over to do other things so it's not a million
dollar a month website but it wasn't designed to be. I'm
just proud that it lists high in searches and that the
good people at Wikipedia listed me as a resource site for
coffee related information, that's my badge of honor. |
